Looking to buy Animorphia. You were talking about the double pages not meeting up. Who was the better publisher you were referring to? Absolutely love your videos. They are so informative. I’ve learned so much from you. Thank You,

The book I have is published by LOM ART which is a division of Michael O’Mara. It was printed in China.

China now has a loose leaf chinese version that is printed on one sheet of paper and folded in half, but sadly…they printed double sided and its in chinese.

If you can wait longer, the poster version will be out soon.

I have loved your youtube video’s on the enchanted garden the duck pond, wondering if you can tell me what type of derwent pencils you use, i have all the faber castell one’s and am wondering if and what is the best type of derwent pencils to get i have a few 24 packs:
    Derwent artist
    Derwent studio
    Dewent Academy colour.
    what one’s do you recommend

Certainly! 🙂 Derwent Artist and Derwent Studio are identical pencils. The only real difference is the Artist has a wider core and the Studio has a narrower core. Derwent Academy is their student (not Artist) brand and therefore contains less pigment and more binding agent, that’s why they’re cheaper. Between Artist and Studio is a personal choice as they will both deliver the same colouring experience and result.

Your videos are so awesome! I love all of them and watch them again & again–Thank you so much, Peta!

I don’t have your fave brand of pencils since I invested in Prismacolor, but have bought a few open stock Polychromos to try them out. I got them at our local art store ‘Dick Blick’ and also got a few of their store brand to test.

I was really impressed with the Dick Blick brand, which seem quite comparable to Polychromos and wondered if you’ve ever tried them? They’re about half the price of Polychromos per pencil, which pleases my frugal nature. Not as soft as Prismas, but they’re very blendable.

They’re made in Czech Rep. and are also known as ‘Utrecht Color’. In fact, in the open stock display, ranged by color, some had Blick stamped on them and some colors Utrect, so they must be one and the same, though I’m not sure. Have you tried these?

I’m in Australia so i don’t have a local DickBlick so no, I’ve never tried them. But i know many others who have and they have been impressed by their performance. Sometimes certain brands can surprise you. i have two super cheap kids sets: ‘Fun Stuff’ ($3) and ‘Columbia'($1) and both are remarkably good and fun to use. Alternately i have tried a couple of cheap and really horrible pencils so it’s a bit of pot luck.

I saw how well your coloring turned out with non-artist pencils in the Animorphia review video of the steer heads facing each other. It looked amazing!(Micador/Funstuff pencils) Wow! You did a beautiful job there!

I have the Crayola & Rose-Art brands, which depending on the COLOR of each pencil, tends to produce either very good color lay-down or sort of dull/weak color. So, you’re right–it’s Potluck! But,I found a use for the weaker colors recently. They make great blender pencils!

very true, this is exactly what i found. i think the less pigmented colours are made up with more binder material which is what the blenders are composed of.

I use the Utrecht/Dick Blick pencils and love them. They’re Czech made as are Koh I Noor Polycolors. Rumor has it that they are all made at the same factory. I also have Prismacolors. Like them for the colors but prefer the Utrecht because they’re a harder core pencil and I’m a bit heavy handed. Would not have purchased a large set of Prismacolors if I had known about the Utrechts first. Live and learn!!

Hi Peta, well first of all, thank you so very much for your colouring videos! They are helping me not only in colouring with coloured pencils, but in painting as well with shading and light! Would you consider writing a book and using specific parts of your YouTube videos on adult colouring? I would definitely buy it!!

I have been thinking about doing a small book on how to colour but so far I haven’t begun to put one together.

How about a color along dvd that’s packaged with drawings to use with different techniques explained. You are so good at making it seem easier. I love and have learned so much from your utube videos. Thank you so much. Now if I can only get past trying to decide on the color scheme and my fear of making a mosh-mash.

Hello Peta! I too wanted to tell you how very helpful you and your video tutorials have been to me in my short career (3 months) as a colorist! I would love the opportunity to purchase a hardcopy format of your coloring tips, so I do hope you will pursue that project! You make so much sense with your tips, but I sometimes forget some of them when no longer looking at the video. It would be fantastic to have something in print to refer back to while coloring. Thanks for all you do!!!!

Congratulations to all of the winners. I saw in one of the comments if you live in the US you could go to Amazon and bring up Micador pencils and there is a retailer selling the pencils here in the states, with a 4 to 5 week wait time for delivery. I just brought up Micador pencils and it had Staples listed as a location to get them. I haven’t been to Staples yet but am planning to check it out. Will be great if they are there. There are Staples everywhere.

Oh, sorry. I saw some last week. They sell out quickly and then the warehouse has to wait until another shipment comes across from Australia. And the 36’s are in short supply in Australia also at the moment.
